Meta Bright Group Strengthens EV Expansion with ChargeSini Site Takeover
Meta Bright Group Berhad has officially taken over four existing EV charging station sites from ChargeHere EV Solution Sdn Bhd, the operator behind Malaysia’s largest charge point network under the ChargeSini brand. The takeover is executed through Meta Bright ChargeSini (MBC), a 51:49 joint venture between Meta Bright and ChargeHere formed earlier this month.

The four locations — including Bungaraya Condominium in Selangor, Vertu Resort and Lexis Suites in Penang — are already live and actively serving EV drivers. With the novation agreement signed, MBC will now manage operations, maintenance, and revenue collection for these sites moving forward.

This move allows Meta Bright to fast-track its entry into the EV charging industry by leveraging ChargeSini’s operational scale, without the need to build new infrastructure from scratch. The sites are part of ChargeSini’s growing portfolio, which currently includes 935 registered charging points across more than 400 locations nationwide — all tracked and approved by the Energy Commission (ST).

Derek Phang, Executive Director of Corporate and Strategic Planning at Meta Bright, views this as a tactical step toward long-term energy expansion. “This is not just about entering the EV charging market — it’s about doing so quickly and sustainably. By building on ChargeSini’s established groundwork, we’re accelerating our energy goals while creating recurring revenue opportunities,” he said.

The takeover aligns with the group’s commitment to clean energy and supports the broader goals of the National Energy Transition Roadmap, which aims to deploy over 10,000 EV chargers nationwide by 2025. With further discussions underway to secure more prime sites, the joint venture is positioned to play a central role in shaping Malaysia’s low-carbon transport future.

This development has also been featured by Focus Malaysia, Business Today, and The Sun, highlighting growing media interest in the evolving EV charging landscape and ChargeSini’s role in driving Malaysia’s clean mobility transition.
